Abstract Rings 2

Here’s a second, longer version of the abstract rings piece. This is a quick modelling and animation piece done in Maya and compiled in VirtualDub.

I wanted to showcase soft natural lighting using only a single Maya image based lighting node with high res image of a cloudy sky. You can see this in the highlights in the ring objects as well as on the ground plane, aided by global illumination.

The scene was rendered in Mental Ray in about 5 hours and contains 1440 frames. Music is by Chicago Underground Trio.
